Talk:The Wave Theory of Slash
The wave theory of slash, which was written back in 1993 and posted to Virgule-L. I'm afraid I don't know anything about a more general wave theory of fandom, though. Most of the discussions I've had using the term 'wave theory of fandom' was centered on vague recollections of that original post. --rache 17:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- I could swear I remember a wave theory of fandom from somewhere, but perhaps I should stop sniffing glue. --Betty 02:40, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just from popping down to mf, I found this:

- Sandy posed the original version that Lezlie sent to the Virgule-L list back in 1993: http://sherrold.livejournal.com/134862.html
I don't have the updated 1996 version anywhere, or a write up of the discussion at Escapade, but we might be able to poke around and find it. I think the ones from torch's LJ are the more modernized ones, but I could be wrong. --rache 17:17, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Based on the content on the page and this discussion, I propose we rename the page to something like The Wave Theory of Slash or The Wave Theory of Slash - Lezlie Conch, depending on whether the focus should be the meta discussion or the particular fanwork. Meanwhile, I, too, had the impression that there was a more general "wave" concept floating around--first wave fans/fandom as a synonym for Threshold Fandom?--Æthel 18:42, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- right, makes sense -- first option sounds good to me. Maybe even a disamb line or two about threshold fandom? Shall someone move it? --lian 22:43, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'll move it, using the first version; Lezlie's was the base, but it's become a broader thing since then. (torch has unlocked her LJ since last fall, too, so I'll add that link in as well). --Arduinna 20:11, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Date of princessofg LJ entry ref?
Does anyone who's worked on this page know from what month/year the entry at princessofg's LiveJournal (mentioned above and reffed on the page) was?
She's on Dreamwidth now (and imported her LJ entries) as http://princessofgeeks.dreamwidth.org, but without a month/year to search through her archive entries (and no title for the post mentioned on this page) I have no idea which Dreamwidth post to change the ref to. Thanks! --Sk 06:32, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
- 14 July 2008. http://princessofgeeks.dreamwidth.org/255254.html --Doro 07:52, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! Updated the ref. --Sk 07:56, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
