Time to make a relationship page?
I think the actual list makes the article too tall and with a growing cast of characters, the list is only going to grow even more. Alpha (talk) 10:52, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- In general, I think we may be reaching the point where we want to reorganise the page and structure? It's come a long way! It would make sense to me to have a category (Genshin Impact? Hoyoverse?) which holds all the character pages and relationship pages, etc. If there's really a lot, we can split the organising pages off into List pages so we can use it as a directory. I feel this page would be best as an overall primer of the fandom rather than an index of all the characters/relationships anyway :') -- Distracteddaydreamer (talk) 09:39, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

- Ok I've made this: List of Genshin Impact Relationship Names. It is only a sketch right now because I wasn't sure what to add so, I did a sort of sample with three of the ships. I know ships have more than one name or combination of emojis, but the rest can go into the ship's article. I also added two columns of names to the characters from Mondstadt in the main article to see how it looks. I am not fully convinced but it can be reverted. Alpha (talk) 21:43, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- Does there really need to be a list of all the Genshin playable characters...? If I look at Naruto or Bleach they just have a category for their characters (which Genshin also has). Naruto even has a neat little navigator at the bottom of their page that links out to the category. If it really seems important to split characters by region like this page does, maybe we could just set up 'Mondstadt characters' subcategories or something instead? - I would say the list is not really necessary, as one can access the list of character pages going to the category. It is useful to see which pages are red links and need creating, but that's it. I wonder if there's a way to fix that. There's a List of Merlin Characters here. Something similar can be done. Or they can be moved to the wishlist or to a fanlore project. - I agree that the list on the main article can probably go, though I personally think a list of characters page would be useful. There are a lot of characters with and without pages and so many of them have fairly substantial fandom presences, not to mention how many this fandom is likely to gain over time. - Why not set up the "list of characters" page as a sub-page off the main article? That way you get the list of redlinks but it's not a "separate" page from the main article. Rossi (talk) 18:24, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Now there's a list of redlinks at the new FanloreProject:Genshin Impact page, so I think we can definitely delete the list in this page in the meantime. I'd just like to preserve the notes that have already been made on a handful of the characters in this page before deleting... Maybe a quick round of stubs...? - I am fine with deleting the character list and link to the category of characters. The notes can be moved to character pages, and the fannish info about NPCs can be kept in the article. As I don't see potential in most NPCs pages to grow past stub. Alpha (talk) 18:03, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- I deleted the fannish info about NPCs from this article because I feel that this article should focus on more of a general overview. I think that we might be able to move information about NPCs to its own page - maybe Popular NPCs in Genshin Impact ? A lot of them have things in common (for example the world quests) and we can include fan creators like Praw and the zine please make them playable and the random wank about NPC centred events? its not common but even characters like Huffman have art (huffman/albedo) and herbalist gui/childe that i think is worthwhile to document. Not sure where this would fit (or who should be added, because I do think there's balkanization in any big fandom...), but I wanted to make a note somewhere...
