Talk:Cross-generational
I've redirected Age Difference & Age Disparity here, because it seemed to make sense to bundle this trope together. However, as far as I can tell, "cross gen" is used widely in HP and rarely elsewhere, while "age difference" or "age disparity" is a common warning in many fandoms. If anyone wants to create age difference/disparity as a separate article, do go ahead! Espresso Addict (talk) 04:17, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- I think the two do need to be separated, as not all age differences are a generation or more and in previous cases of multiple terms for similar concepts we've preferred to have separate pages. I'll add it to my to-do list if no one else wants to do the honors.--æþel (talk) 02:26, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- + 1 for two pages because different glossary terms can have slightly different meanings. --Doro (talk) 13:42, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'm in favour of tropes being amalgamated where they're basically the same thing, even if they go by different names, but I seem to be in the minority. Is there anything to be said for trying to separate trope pages from glossary pages to some extent -- ie a main trope page for a concept, with multiple in-feeding glossary pages saying this is the usage in a particular fandom/among a particular group of fans? - Amalgamating pages has led to privileging terms in some fan communities over others, so we try to break things out to be fair. (see Talk:Fan Soundtrack Project and Talk:Multimedia.) We can always add notes about the scope of each page and what kind of examples, if any, belong to which page. I think Age Difference could have the non-HP and smaller age gap examples.--æþel (talk) 01:17, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
