Talk:Coffee

Dear Gardeners, There were so many pages referencing Coffee I figured it had to have a page. I was torn between making it a Glossary Term or a Trope, but the Template:Trope page says "when in doubt, use the tropes template and add the glossary category manually", so that's what I did. I'm happy to demote it to just a glossary term if you'd rather! Julie (talk) 03:09, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

This doesn‘t seem to be a fannish page. Coffee is just coffee. There is no need to explain it in a fannish wiki. I could just as well say in many stories there is hot chocolate, or beer, or ice cream, or water, or tea, ore there are beds, or sofas, or chairs, or shoes or whatever. I could list every story that mentions a bed, but to what purpose? I propose deleting this page. --Doro (talk) 20:49, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you, Doro, I appreciate your input, and I'm happy to abide by whatever the decision ends up being. To me, coffee is more than just a real life thing; it's intrinsically bound up with my creativity, and my characters' choices of beverage carry a weight of meaning - which I admit wouldn't be apparent let alone meaningful to everyone. But I figured there wouldn't be almost 5500 works on AO3 tagged Coffee (not Coffee Shop but just Coffee) and there wouldn't be 20 pages on Fanlore with red internal links to Coffee, if it was just me who felt it was a fannish thing. I do take your points, and I did think for a long while about what a fannish page on Coffee would look like. But when I found a Cats page on Fanlore, and a link to it as an example from the Help:Tropes and Genres page, I felt that I could go ahead using that page as a model. Apologies if I created work for others as a result of making too many assumptions! | Julie (talk) 05:58, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Perhaps Coffee could be a section of Food in Fanworks? --MPH (talk) 13:31, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Cool, no worries! I'll move it later today, and set up a redirect on this page. | Julie (talk) 00:11, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
