Defunct links
Hello, thank you for the edits on the site, but I would like to add something, if a link is no longer available it would be best to look for it on WBM instead of just removing it. Keeping an old link in an article is vital to show the development of that content up to the present time. I removed two of your edits of K/S fics and re-added the links. Don't see this as a criticism, far from it, I'm grateful for the edit because I was notified and decided to copy the reference links now I'll have a week full of K/S edits lol -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 23:20, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Ellakbhesse! Thank you for the feedback. After a couple more stumbles, I have now got a better system in place, in which I'm only adding data (not subtracting it). My only excuse is that these particular fics were only temporarily housed at the K/S Archive while waiting for me (as part of the OTW Open Doors team) to get the FSHP imports up and running. Of course, temporary or not, I see that that is also part of each fic's history. Anyway, I will keep adding current AO3 links, but I won't delete the info that's there already. Quote alterations
Julie, I see you are replacing many "xBryn" with "Bryn" or "Bryn Lantry," which is fine, but when "xBryn" is used in a direct quote, it can't be switched out, as that is altering a quotation. You can, however, replace "xBryn" in quotes with [Bryn] or [Bryn Lantry], which takes out the pseud, but doesn't change the original commenter's words. :-) --Mrs. Potato Head 13:36, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, MPH! OK, I will go find that and switch it back. Though I would be very surprised if it was used in the original quotation. "xBryn" was never a pseud that Bryn used while writing and publishing fic. She only had someone change "Bryn" to "xBryn" here on Fanlore, Back In The Day before we knew much about what Fanlore was, as a way of avoiding Google searches and such. She has since changed her mind about needing / wanting to do that, and she asked me to clear it all out. | Julie (talk) 00:24, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
