Talk:Cardcaptor Torika

Hi -- I'll let Hope have a look at this, since it's a hybrid of a fanwork and a pro work, from what I can tell. Generally, as I understand it, we won't be making categories for each fandom, though. Have a look at Die Hard or Torchwood for how fandoms will fit into categories. -Melina 20:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough, we really need Wikipedia style articles for fandom works somewhere. It was why i tried getting one up on Wikia --Dynamo ace 22:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Dynamo! I think I need to chat with you to get my head around where the Cardcaptor pages sit (which is pro, which is fanwork, etc). Am I correct in thinking that Cardcaptor Torika is a fanwork, and Cardcaptor Sakura is the original text it's based on? We do have the structure in place for Wikipedia-style articles for fanworks, as we do for fandoms/original texts, built into our sitemap (so, based in how we categorise, wikilink and make use of "what links here" functions). I'm hanging about in the Wiki Beta chatroom if you are around to talk about it, otherwise we can back-and-forth on discussion pages :) If the latter, let me know and I can make some changes to demonstrate how the sitemap works for collections of articles such as this. --Hope 23:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well Hope, Cardcaptor Torika is a fanwork of Cardcaptor Sakura. My theroy is that we should create a subcategory for Cardcaptor Torika under Cardcaptor Sakura and fanworks. That way it can be easily known as a fanwork. Also the sitemap may need to show what are fanworks and what is the source material. --Dynamo ace 11:05, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- FYI, we are not creating individual categories for fandoms -- we'd have so many categories that way that they'd no longer be helpful. Instead fandoms will be grouped by genre (e.g., book, comic, tv show, film, etc.), and we'll use cross-linking to show relationships between them. E.g., this page would like to Cardcaptor Sakura, and that page would link to this one. I'll go ahead and take a crack at categorizing these for now, and we can work from there. -Melina 21:32, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Heya, I allowed myself to edit slightly for better reading comprehension for noobs like me, and added a tiny sprinkle of internal linkage. :) --Lian 09:43, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, if you can enhance the article to the best of your abilities --Dynamo ace 15:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Is this really notable enough for its own separate page...? -Duelist 01:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- There's no real notability requirement per se on Fanlore; if someone thinks it's worth adding, they can add it (see Fanlore:Ethical_Standards_for_Community_&_Content#Coverage and Fanlore:Ethical_Standards_for_Community_&_Content#Objectivity for the official stance). FWIW, though, I followed the link and it looks like this particular fanwork has inspired both fanfic and art, so I'd say it's notable at least within a segment of the fandom. It needs to be renamed to meet the fanwork-page standard, though, which I'll do now. --Arduinna 04:15, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
