email addresses

I suggest we remove the email addresses from this page, as well as the screenshot of the archive because all email addresses are visible. Joanna R (talk) 13:53, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

I would definitely agree - we've made a point of keeping email addresses off pages in general, and I don't think there's any reason to include them here. With the screenshot, perhaps we could upload a cropped version that keeps the top as a visual for what the Fortunecity version of the archive looked like, but cutting out the long list of fic + emails? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 18:40, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks enchantedsleeper, that’s a nice call, so yes I did all that! In the cropped version, I kept the top of the site, the list of recent updates, and even the top of a fic author’s list of stories (cropping it before their email) just as an example. I’ve uploaded that + changed visibility of the previous version. I’m actually going to use that Quills and Quidditch page to mimic how they have the Site Images section too. I’m also replying to your comments in the section below too. Joanna R (talk) 19:30, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

structure

I suggest that we do some work here to make the page less list-like. I've copied the list of stories into Excel and done some browsing, so we could say something like this:
"By Your Command was an archive preserving stories from the BSG Slash Mailing List. The archive had about 20 authors across about 145 stories, including a couple round robin stories from the mailing list where the character Starbuck was paired with various other characters. By far most of the stories had the pairing Apollo/Starbuck (at least 90 stories), with a couple stories pairing Apollo with someone else and 5-10 pairing Starbuck with someone else."
1. Let me know if that sounds good, or there's further edits we should make.
2. Should we include a list of authors? That's the part of the list that could be worth preserving: Anna, Arista (later Micandra), Athea, Athena13, Ayelet... etc
3. Does anyone have any ideas on what to name the redlink to the Apollo/Starbuck pairing? We have to be careful to distinguish it from Lee Adama/Kara Thrace in the 2003 reboot.

Your suggested wording sounds good! And yes, a list of authors could be a good alternative - I found this page Quills and Quidditch which has a nice author list that we could mimic the formatting of. I unfortunately don't have enough fandom knowledge (any, really) to suggest anything for #3 ^^; --enchantedsleeper (talk) 19:19, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for giving #1 a once-over! Good formatting to mimic for #2. For #3, I don’t really know either, but it looks like most of the 2003-reboot pairing refers to them as Lee/Kara, so maybe I’ll just use Apollo/Starbucks as a redlink and leave it to later editors to sort out if someone feels passionately. 2nd Move for page

Also just as a note, I will have to Move this page a 2nd time to adjust the title. I originally thought this archive and another archive with the same name in the same fandom were sequential, but they were actually run as different types of archives (static vs not), so I am adjusting the Page names to reflect that.
