Simplify name?

Maybe things have calmed down enough to name it something simpler, like "Bandom and Bandslash"?. --msilverstar 23:38, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

"Things" were calmed down when the pages were made; the problem is not an active debate, but two different fandom communities using the same name. Using that name to mean only one of the two communities is problematic whether people are actively raging or not.
It's possible there's a less clunky solution, but since both communities use "Bandom" and "Bandslash", I'm not sure that's it.

sorry, I wasn't clear. It's mostly the "Daycadance+, My Chemical Romance Source Text" part that seems excess. Also, I can't find any other pages with band fandom content except this and the terminology debate page, which makes the disambiguation confusing. --msilverstar 00:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
The "Source Text" part could go and My Chemical Romance could be shortened to "MCR". What about Bandom (primary and accociated bands) because there are a few primary and many accociated bands and there is no way to list all the bandom bands in the title. --Doro 00:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
This is a hard one, maybe the fandom itself has some good terms to explain the scope --msilverstar 00:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Changing "My Chemical Romance" to "MCR" makes sense, since the abbreviation would be explained in the text anyway. The fandom itself tends to refer to it using the terms already mentioned - Decaydance and related bands, MCR and friends, Six Degrees of Pete Wentz, etc. Cesy 17:58, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Actually, just removing the words "Source Text" would make me very happy. This fandom is the only one that has them in a title. But there may be some deeply meaningful reason that I'm not getting. Anyone? --msilverstar 01:33, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes to removing "source text"! I don't think there is a deeply meaningful reason, and it's unnecessarily long and confusing.--æþel 02:16, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Moving Fourth Wall to own page?

I've expanded/updated on the Fourth Wall section and it might be getting unwieldy, esp as a lot of it is still to be discussed? But am newbie and unsure of if/how to proceed /o\ Greedy dancer (talk) 12:18, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Good idea, this current page a hugely long page and needs to be more like a landing page with links to some of other pages.
You can make a new page simply by typing a search for the page title you want: the system will create an empty page. Then you add in the infobox and copy/paste the Fourth Wall section from the original page, and add a link where the section used to be. If you have any questions, just ask them here and I'll get notified. (Also, welcome!) --msilverstar (talk) 17:03, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Done! The Fourth Wall in Bandom (Decaydance+, My Chemical Romance) I did my best with title, categories and choice of template but wouldn't mind it checked over! (Thank you! I'm having a lot of fun!) Greedy dancer (talk) 17:40, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

history quote to add

From 2008, comparing Bandom to Due South:

Bandom has no history, and the teenagers for whom this is their first fandom vastly outnumber the people who even know what a mailing list was. Not to mention the live canon and the RPS thing and the four hundred meta issues that I've never seen mentioned in any fandom before. (What do you do when an RPS subject replies to fic (directly, on LJ, logged into their own account) with "dialogue rings true"? WHAT?!) And all of these things, these young-fandom-characteristics, influence the fic in tiny imperceptible ways that you get used to without knowing what you're getting used to. If that makes any sense. comment by kalpurna, Archived version, something's lost in translation

timelines as fan activity

This may just be a common and necessary RPF fan activity, but I've come across several projects to make cross-band timelines. Here's one at damnyouwentz.--aethel (talk) 23:28, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

All-American Rejects

I reinserted this band in the "other associated" list because it is listed as one of the allowed bands in several bandom livejournal communities (if you search the band name on Fanlore there are several results). I don't know anything about this band and it doesn't have a Fanlore page yet, but if its connection to bandom is tenuous or contested, that would be great information to add to a page about the band's fandom. It has 89 works on AO3, 21 fics at Fandomination as of 2007. It has a rather long-winded primer at bandom_primers on LJ that doesn't mention anything about Pete Wentz or Warped Tour. According to Wikipedia they were on the 2005 Warped Tour (aka Summer of Like). They were not signed to Decaydance. I found some LJ comms: aar_capslock, aared, writtenthings, rejectedfic, __aar__, theallamrejects.--aethel (talk) 15:10, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
