Sonny John Moore, recognized more widely by his stage name, Skrillex, is best known as a DJ and electronic music producer. He is also the lead singer of post-hardcore band From First To Last[1] and heads his own record label named OWSLA.[2]

Depiction in Fanon
Alien!Sonny
This trope is also commonly referred to as "skrillien." It is not uncommon for Sonny to be portrayed in fanfics as being an alien. Usually, this alien form of him will be drawn with blue skin and four arms, however, details vary by artist. How or why he got to Earth is up to author interpretation, but it's common that his home planet will be named Owsla after his record label. It is not uncommon for skrillien fics to use alien biology as an explanation for Heat Fic, Mpreg, or both. Often, Skrillex is his true alien name while Sonny is simply a human name used to blend in.
The oldest traceable post using the term "skrillien" appears to have been this ask-reply posted by tumblr user hexselenas on April 7, 2011. However, it is not confirmed if this post coined the trope name.
Sonny himself may have inspired this trope with his first tour being called the Mothership tour, his fascination with aliens and space[6], and the general fact that Skrillex sounds like a good name for an alien. His album Recess also features an alien on the cover, but this trope well preceded the album's release.

Moe! Sonny
Sonny is commonly portrayed as being upbeat, optimistic, and a little childish, similar to the Moe archetype.
This is partially inspired by reality. In real life, he's a big Disney fan and has collaborated with them several times in the past (including getting an animated Cameo in Wreck It Ralph), and he has his fair share of cute moments. He has been described by fellow producer Deadmau5 in a now-deleted tweet as "cheerful, and super inspired by life" (granted, in the middle of an argument after he called Joel an asshole).[7]
Woobification
Sonny is often depicted as somewhat of a Woobie. This is due to his emo past in FFTL and self-admitted struggles with body image and eating disorders, both exemplified in his self-eponymous From First to Last song, Waltz Moore.

- Fans often consider Sonny to be especially feminine or Uke due to his small stature (5'4), long hair, and- as Deadmau5 put it- "little girly hips."[8] He is typically the Bottom in Smut fics, and is the subject of Transgender Headcanons more often than anyone else in Electronic Dance Music RPF.
- Yes, he is within Six Degrees of Wentz, and as such, does rarely pop up in Bandom Crossover fics.
- Sonny is often compared by fans to a koala. On the origins of this, livejournal user azrielen shared:[9]
The joke, which started on stfugerard, of all places, and was proliferated in the early days of omg_sonny (both PARODY communites, so omg don't be offended...), is that Sonny, with his shaggy hard, childish features, and big nose, looks like a koala.
