Hector de Maris, also known as Ector de Maris, is the brother of Lancelot du Lac, son of Elaine of Benoic, and cousin of Lionel and Bors in Arthurian Legend.

In Medieval Literature

Hector is still alive after the Battle of Camlann in Le Morte D'Arthur, becomes possessed by a demon in the Cantare of Hector and Morgan, and is said to have dated Morgan Le Fay, Sebile, and the Queen of Northgalis in Les Prophèties de Merlin.

In Fandom

Despite his popularity in medlit[1] and important role as Lancelot's brother, Hector is often considered "neglected" by the Arthuriana fandom, due to the relatively low number of fan works dedicated to him and his limited appearances in modern media.

Though there are multiple spellings for his name, the majority of fans favor Hector[2], which prevents him from being confused with Ector the Kind, father of Kay and foster-father of Arthur.

Some fans headcanon Hector as nonbinary or agender[3][4], though this may have become less common.

A number of fans have said that Hector ought to befriend one of the other neglected or maligned siblings, like Agravaine[5] or Aglovale[6].
