Sailor Mac was a highly prolific het writer in the Sailor Moon fandom, who wrote over 100 fanfics about the series. Her stories combined both the canon and her own alternate timeline, giving each of the Inner Senshi their own love interests while working to develop and expand the character of Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask, whom she felt had a lot of potential the anime wasted. She covered the second, third, and fourth seasons of the anime, only substituting a Dark Kingdom revival arc for the Makai episodes.

She eventually closed out her Sailor Moon series by finishing the SuperS-based fics, and branched out into other anime as well as writing yaoi fanfiction.

Fanfiction

Sailor Mac mostly wrote lemon fanfiction, heavy on plot and emotion but never skimping on the smut. Her writing was well-received among fans of romantic lemons (which were also called Sekkushiaru Roman) and people who longed for variety outside the typical poorly-written lesbian orgies or tentacle porn. She also participated in a round-robin challenge called Secrets of the Sexy Slippers, a collection of romantic lemons from varied fandoms (but mostly Sailor Moon) with a single thread binding them together, a pair of magically infused high-heeled bedroom slippers. She was close friends with a lot of like-minded writers and known as a kind and articulate person.

She started out using dub names for everything, due to the DiC dub being her main exposure to the series. As time went on, she began to use the original Japanese names for attacks and villainous teams, as well as introducing elements from the manga. She kept using the dubbed names for the characters, though, in addition to the common fanon names for the Outer Senshi.

While her Sailor Moon fanfiction was well-received, her X/1999 yaoi fanfics were the subject of criticism among other fans who found her style lacking [1] or felt she handled Subaru and Kamui's past relationships poorly in her quest to bring the couple together (demonizing Seishirou and all but ignoring Kotori).[2]

She was also a fairly well-known MST writer who took on some of the more infamous stories of the time period.

Sailor Mac and Kink

Some of Sailor Mac's earlier work was heavily vanilla, focusing entirely on soft, safe romantic encounters; one of her stories heavily criticized the use of sex toys and kinky clothing via Serena being horrified at the sight of a dirty catalog and Darien explaining that only loveless, joyless people would use such things.[3]

Over time, she introduced some tamer kinks into her stories such as food play, sensation play, lap dances, and videotaping. Her "Hot Controversy" series would eventually address more hardcore things such as titfucking and bondage. Later in her career, she wrote an essay discussing her thoughts on kink and how she felt some smut writers abused the idea for the sake of shock value rather than going for genuine eroticism.

Her Eternal Moonlight

In 2016, Sailor Mac and several other fans wrote a book compiling the experiences of female Sailor Moon fans. The podcast Anime Summit and the website LadyGeekGirl interviewed her and her friend Steven Savage about the origins of the book. [4] [5]
