Ryou Bakura is one of the main characters of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

Sometimes in fanworks made in the 2000s, Bakura is referred to as Hikari by Yami Bakura and other characters, sharing this nickname with Yugi Moto and Marik Ishtar; this is inspired by the american dub calling the spirits from the Millenium Itens Yami, meaning Dark in japanese, with Hikari meaning Light.
Often in fanworks, people would try to create ways to differentiate between Ryou Bakura and Yami Bakura, since they both go by the same name in the series. One very popular solution is to refer to the modern counterpart exclusively as Ryou, and the spirit goes only as Bakura, something not really accurate to the series but easy to understand.
