Rebuilding is a Harry Potter fanfiction by Colubrina. It is a Dramione Eighth Year fic. It has been translated into both Spanish and French, and other fic authors have written spin-offs.

Some time in 2016/2017, Rebuilding knocked Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality down from most-reviewed Harry Potter fanfic on FFNet. Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality had previously held the most-reviewed spot for several years.

Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts to help rebuild the shattered castle the summer after the war. She and the other summer resident - and eventually their friends - have to come to terms with how the war broke more than just the walls of the building. Follows multiple Hogwarts students through '8th year' and one additional year of early adulthood.

Summary

This fic is an Eighth Year fic focused heavily on the remaining students in Harry's year. It centers around: Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Susan Bones, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, Hannah Abbott, and Neville Longbottom. The fic begins during their 8th year at Hogwarts and includes a couple of post-graduation years.

Reasons to read:

1. Dramione (or Draco/Hermione romance if you're new to the sub-genre)

2. BEAUTIFULLY written exploration of the trauma the senior Hogwarts students face after the war (Hermione and Draco return to Hogwarts after the war, Harry and Ron don't). Includes students with nightmares, drinking problems, promiscuity (although not graphic this is for 16 year-olds and up), eating disorders - all the things that trauma can trigger.

3. REALLY looks at diversity at Hogwarts. Chapters have explored Padma's challenges with maintaining a vegetarian diet. (I believe because Hinduism requires vegetarianism). And the girls get their hands painted.Just now finished up a look at Chanukah where they got the elves to make latkes and jelly donuts. And Hermione FINALLY learns that spells aren't only spoken in Latin. She learns a Hebrew spell.

Side note: That's what I'M looking for in diversity in Harry Potter fan fic. Don't just slap one of the non-white characters in front of me and then change nothing else. Give me depth and detail. It really doesn't take that much.

4. It's updated consistently - daily actually (except perhaps on Sundays).

5. Chapters are short and easily read.

6. The author has over EIGHT THOUSAND (8,000+) reviews.

EXTRA Goodness - she shows Molly Weasley as the witch with a B that we all knew was under there.
