Reactions and Reviews
1993
This story is cute, but the humorous situation gets set up by relying on Kirk having that open door policy which I criticized n an earlier comment. Intruders and loose sentient beasties would certainty be a good reason for a Captain to keep the outer door to his quarters locked. It's much more difficult to maintain a secure vessel with quarters that aren't secured.[1]
An enjoyable, funny little story that fits in perfectly with the rest of the author's Sharing the Sunlight "universe." The author manages a neat trick, really embarrassing Kirk without making him into a buffoon or costing him much of his dignity. The trana apes are believable and original, and I loved the involvement of Lt. Audrey Dillow, who strikes me as a real person. The scene with the apes in the cargo hold and its parallel with earlier private events in Spock's cabin is perfect. I'll never forget that little glance between Kirk and Spock. It's in moments like these that the beauty of the K/S relationship shines through the events of this 7-page story. The ending offers a good laugh, and I didn't see it coming! This one is done well. [2]
Delightful and charmingly funny, this atypical Sinclair story follows Kirk as he deals with a cargo of animals. One of the most hilarious scenes occurs in the shower as Kirk confronts the errant ape. Errant and curious and horny! Then hapless Lieutenant Dillow (funny name and perfect for her) unintentionally gets the last laugh.
This story ends with one of the most clever lines I have read in K/S! [3]
1994
The Enterprise is ferrying a collection of animals to a research station. Some intelligent primates get loose! Amusing, their finding two males in "advanced cooperative sexual behavior."
Three are finally found, but the fourth comes from Kirk's cabin as Kirk steps out of the shower, and holds a phaser on him, and is quite interested in Kirk's cock! I do believe so.
A silly, cute story; I enjoyed. [4]
1999
PRIMAL SCREAM is a short and unexpected break from the onward progression of a love story. Quasi- intelligent apes loose aboard ship—and one of them with a distinct curiosity about the captain’s privates! Welcome and FUN. [5]
