Manga de Oro (MDO) Awards (Golden Sleeve Awards in English as the word "manga" is Spanish for "sleeve"), was a fanfic award held to recognize fanfic writers whose fics stood out for their quality. The entire event was democratic. Readers and authors voted via mail. Votes were open from January 1st to July 1st. After that votes were counted and the winner announced.
The categories were divided into 3 segments: Characters, Series, and Types of Fanfics. There were 9 categories in the Character Segment, 9 in the Series Segment and 14 in the Fanfic Types Segment, giving a total of 32 categories. Later, at the suggestion of many participants, the category of "Best Fanfic Archive Page" was also added.
Originally, it was planned to include the "Worst Fanfic" category too, but it was eliminated as it would be considered insulting and disrespectful for whoever was chosen in this category.
The event was held by Hukarovi Yanoki, who was in charge of the website and the vote count. With several other people creating the banners given to the winners.
