Takenouchi Sora is one of the main characters in the first season of Digimon.

Relationships in Canon

The final episode of season 2 of Digimon showed Sora married to Ishida Yamato aka Matt; however in the first season of the American dub, she was closer to Yagami Taichi (Tai Kamiya) than Yamato. Her Jogress partner was Tachikawa Mimi.

Relationships in Fanon

Sora was popular paired with the two male leads: Yamato (the resulting relationship was called Sorato or Yamora in the English-speaking fandom) and Taichi (which was called Taiora). She was also shipped with Mimi, which was called Mira.

Depictions in Fanworks

Fanom was divided over the treatment of Sora. Some actively supported her, but many, including slash fans, disliked her shift from a tomboy-type to a more passive, stereotypically feminine character. In fanworks she occasionally became the antagonist who ruined Taichi and Yamato's friendship.

I'm going to be really honest, but I'm going to also try not to flame Sora. Don't get me wrong, I used to love the girl so much. It was because of her tomboyish characteristic and charisma that I began loving and adoring her, because I knew she wasn't like all of the other typical girls. She really stood out to me. I even admired her at one point. However, my perspective towards Sora slightly changed, and I can even go as far as to say I don't like her as much as I used to in 01. She completely lost that tomboyish and tough personality that I loved. I was shocked to hear that she even took a job as a Fashion designer. I mean, I imagined that she would have a job as a coach, some sort of athlete or at least as a tennis player... but a fashion designer? *blinks* I'm sorry, but her job was very unrealistic to me. -Dana[1]
