Maggie/Nina is the femslash pairing between Maggie and Nina from the TV version of Good Omens.
Canon
Nina owns the coffee shop ‘Give Me Coffee Or Give Me Death’ and Maggie owns the record shop ‘The Small Back Room’, which are both on Whickber Street along with Aziraphale’s book shop.
During season two of Good Omens, Aziraphale tells Heaven the miracle he and Crowley performed to hide Jim (Gabriel) was actually supposed to be to make Maggie and Nina fall in love, and so they keep trying to get the pair together for the rest of the season in order to prove that. This is mostly through forcing them into cheesy romance story moments, like being caught in the rain together, and going to a dance.
Maggie clearly has a crush on Nina from the start of the season, and Nina is eventually revealed to feel the same, but to be unwilling to start a new relationship (one reason for this is having recently left her toxic ex-partner Lindsay). In the last episode of season two, Maggie and Nina tell Crowley to stop meddling in their love lives, and Maggie say’s she wants to be with Nina, regardless of that meaning waiting until she is ready to date again. The pair therefore don’t technically end up together on-screen (as of writing this), although it’s heavily implied they will in the future.
Fandom
As of 2024, Maggie/Nina is the fifth most popular ship within the Good Omens fandom on AO3, although many works only feature them as a side pairing to Aziraphale/Crowley.
There are fans who thought Maggie and Nina’s romance in the show was cute and enjoyable to watch, while others felt it was forced and they lacked chemistry. Some fans compare their canon relationship arc to a coffee shop AU, for reasons such as the inclusion of a romance between a barista and customer, and a primary focus on character interactions.
There are also discussions about how Maggie and Nina’s relationship can be seen to mirror Aziraphale and Crowley’s. Some fans talk about how Maggie and Aziraphale have a similarly cheerful personality, while Nina and Crowley are more reserved and a bit grumpy (and have both canonically called their love interests ‘angel’). Others say that Nina’s struggle leaving a toxic partner can be compared to Aziraphale’s ongoing difficulties with escaping Heaven’s influence.
Common fic types:
- Post-canon - often showing how they actually get together and the start of their relationship, as the show does not
- Fluff - usually as a part of these post-canon relationship fics and fitting with the general tone of the second season
- Ficlet
