Although there was some shipping of the two in early comics fandom, it was more of a rare pairing. The pairing rose in popularity with the release of the X-Men Movieverse films in the 2000s and became one of the main slash pairings in the movieverse fandom. One of the first authors to write the pairing in the movieverse was Brenda Antrim.
Common Tropes in Fanworks
- Enemyslash: Logan and Scott are often portrayed as rivals within the X-Men universes, this dynamic often attracts fan creators
- Hurt/Comfort: usually with Scott being the recipient of the hurt and Logan providing the comfort
- Threesome or Poly: almost always involving Jean Grey, and may be a way for writers to resolve the canonical love triangle
