Lairport is the name given by larries to commemorate a flight that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson shared in early February 2015. They hadn’t been seen travelling together since about 2012. They took a 14 hour flight from LA to Sydney, Australia.
Events and Fandom Interpretation
The One Direction OTRA Tour started on February 7, 2015, in Sydney, Australia. The members of One Direction were scattered across the globe but Harry and Louis were both in Los Angeles. The fandom was joking half-nervously about how no one was going to make it to Australia.
One February 4, 2015, Harry and Louis were seen arriving at LAX around the same time and people started wondering if they were traveling together for the first time in years. "Harry and Louis” started trending on Twitter. An update account in Switzerland was sent a picture of Harry and Louis picking up their luggage together on February 5. "Harry and Louis" trended on Twitter for 24 hours.
Larries were all celebrating because it showed Harry and Louis didn't hate each other. Then they were papped separately outside of the airport. According to the "ripped shirt" theory, Harry's shirt was more ripped than when they entered the plane, leading larries to speculate that Harry and Louis had joined the mile high club (had sex on the plane). Larries also thought they looked suspiciously happy after deplaning.[1] Other larries have since pointed out that the shirt was in fact already ripped.[2] Anti-larries didn't think they looked particularly happy in the photos. One commented,
lairport really shows the sad state larrie was in even two years ago. this is a huge event for them. harry and louis traveling together, with a group, to the destination they needed to reach for work. for once did not go out of their way to use separate airplanes. and it’s a larrie holiday now. (these special days they observe do not make them seem any less like a cult btw.)[3]
A larrie reminisced in 2023:
lairport is so funny because from the outside it’s like… why are you celebrating two members of the same band traveling together to a tour location for said band they are both a part of? and it goes to show the absolute absurdity that was experiencing one direction as it was happening. how it truly was an Event™ that left people in disbelief that it was actually happening because of the weird ass decision they made where they thought people knowing harry and louis could travel together despite… being in the same band… would be too gay. iconic[4]
Mile High Club
On November 11?, 2015, as the band was appearing on various talk shows to promote its fifth album, a fan who was present for the taping reported on twitter that Harry, Louis, and Liam admitted to joining the mile high club during a game of Never Have I Ever on The Jonathan Ross Show.[5][6] The show didn't air until November 21, but fans on twitter spread the news immediately. Larries were very excited because they felt this revelation was evidence in favor of their Lairport plane sex theory.

Uptown Funk
During the 14 hours of the flight Larries adopted Uptown Funk as a Larrie anthem. They listened to it a bunch and made gifs and memes. Some examples are:

On February 6, the day before the tour, Tumblr larrie buscandoelparaiso said, "Tell me they will cover UPTOWN FUNK" and the tags and notes in that post all say things like, "#*praying emoji*" "#LET THIS HAPPEN#I was going wild on uptown fun last night#and I had a thought for harry and louis#obviously#one direction#uptown funk#otra" and "#OH MY GOD COULD YOU IMAGIBE."[13]
During the first OTRA show on February 7, 1D performed a cover of Uptown Funk.[14][15] One Direction members sang the song multiple times after that as well[16]. Larries thought this was no coincidence and was "basically confirming that they [Harry and Louis] see everything."[17]

On the Archive of Our Own, lairport has its own tag, Lairport 2015, but hasn't been used much (9 works as of May 2023). However, Harry/Louis is the most popular ship in the Airplane Sex tag, with 54 works as of May 2023.
