Kurt Vogel Russell is an American actor known for playing a large variety of characters. His father was the actor Bing Russell who is probably best known for playing Deputy Clem Foster on the Western TV show Bonanza.[1]

Kurt's appearances range from smaller parts in Western TV series like The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters (1963–1964) and The Virginian to a main role in the MCU film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.[note 1] Over the years, Russell has worked with influential directors like John Carpenter and Quentin Tarantino.

Amongst Kurt Russell's most fannish roles are probably Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981) and Jack O'Neil [note 2] in the original Stargate movie (1994). In 2017, the actor was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[2]

Footnotes

  1. ^ Kurt is not the only member of the Russell family with credits in the MCU; his son, Wyatt Russell, played John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
  2. ^ Unlike Richard Dean Anderson's character in the TV series Stargate SG-1, the character played by Russel is spelled with a single 'l'. There is no doubt they are one and the same person though.
