Doing a character study and making it true is not a trivial task. In fact, the success stories are few and far between. "Reach" is a beautiful example of a big success. This story is equal parts delightful, introspective, smart, and sad. I always know I've hit a winner when I wistfully wish that things like this would happen on the screen. Plus, any story that has Scully drinking margaritas begs to be recognized on these pages. All of Khyber's work can be found at this website. [4]

Anonymous asked: hello from a phile from waaaaaay back! if you are talking about season seven secret sex you should definitely be checking out old fic. A lot of the classic fanfic is getting hard to find. The definitive s7 work is Penumbra's "Parabiosis" which is is just poetry, you will want to print it and hug it. The best is Khyber's s7 post-eps and full stories, but Khyber's not a "summer beach read", it's very sort of gritty/realistic and often quite sad but not "dark." Gossamer still has all of these.

Khyber gives her internal monologues that echo Carter's style, but they're better. They make sense.

Don't get me wrong, Khyber's Mulder is damn good too. But Khyber's a guy, so he's supposed to be able to do a good Mulder. (I think it's a little easier for writers to compose a good Mulder because the original isn't as riddled with ignorance. That Carter knew and cared nothing about medicine or women was less of an issue.)

Khyber brings a world-weary air to our heros and their universe that I find very appealing. And, sexist statement ahead: I love my boy-written smut. It's certainly a different, angle *g* than we're used to seeing. Khyber has written one of the hottest pieces of smut, ever, 'Day 17'. -- bugs [6]
