Cons

Townsend was a guest of honor at 1976 StellarCon, the 1984 Dixie Trek, and the 1992 Dixie Trek (at this last con, he was described as a "noted Lost in Space historian").

Townsend was also the organizer/presenter of a series of cons (name unknown). At least one of them may have had Walter Koenig as a guest.

But some of these planned cons appear to have become erratic. Townsend canceled two in July 1991 (locale unknown) and one February 1982, New York.

One was planned to take place in North Carolina July 31 and August 1, 1982 at the Holiday Inn in Lenoir, but it is unknown if this occurred.

A fan in early 1982 commented about a series of cons that Townsley organized and how it was faltering:

This letter is about the cancelled February [1982] convention that was going to be this weekend in New York. As you know by now the February convention has been cancelled! And I think that something should be done!... this has gone on long enough! This is the 3rd convention in over two years that Mr. Townsley has cancelled. Two were in July [1981] and now he has cancelled the one this February [1982]. [1]
