It Might Just Come Back To Bite You is an A/B/O BTS fanfic in The Kim-Coven Chronicles series by Arobeebee. The fic is the series' flagship story, with fans rereading the story multiple times despite the length.[1][2] Like all stories in the series, it centers around vampire and werewolf elements. The main pairing is BTS-OT7, but overall It Might Just Come Back To Bite You is a Jungkook centric fic that focuses on his relationship with each of the boys.

The fic is hugely popular within the BTS fandom on AO3. As of Sept 2022, the fic is the sixth most popular BTS fic by hit count[3] but interestingly is only the nineneeth most bookmarked BTS fic on AO3.[4] Fans clearly love and engage with the series, however, given that the work has 6547 comments and 21103 kudos as of Sept 2022.[5] It is also frequently recommended by fans.[6][7][8]

The Fic

Taking place in a world where supernatural creatures are commonplace and known, It Might Just Come Back To Bite You features Jungkook as a dormant rabbit shifter who becomes unexpectedly bonded to Kim Taehyung after finding him on the street. It follows the development of their relationship and also Jungkook's relationship with the rest of Taehyung's coven. The summary for the fic is:

After Jungkook goes out of his way to help a sickly-looking stranger on a rainy night, the universe chooses to reward him in the most bizarre and unexpected way possible – with a nest of overprotective Vampire sugar-daddies.[5]

and it updated from 20 Feb 2019 to 5 June 2020. AroBeeBee was very active in the comments while the fic was updating, responding to commenters and occasionally having conversations with them about the fic. Despite the fact that the fic is tagged as A/B/O, very little of the fic revolves around that aspect, putting the fic in the more werewolf-oriented type of A/B/O fic rather than the newer omegaverse variety of fic that's largely unconnected to the origins of A/B/O in werewolf fic. The word "omega" is only mentioned three times in the entire 172k work and most of the mentions of "alpha" are in the context of a pack leader rather than the more traditional use of the terms as secondary genders. None of the characters seem to have recognizable secondary genders and the concept of mpreg that's prevalent in A/B/O is also absent.

There are few things i want more in life than to learn exactly how Yugyeom got himself an Alpha by running into a tree. Rereading It Might just Come Back to Bite You for the 7,000th time @arobeebee[11]

Fun fact: kook's meltdown about his studies in "it might just come back to bite you" by @arobeebee is what ultimately made me decide I needed to take a gap semester (and hopefully a whole year), before going to uni because I was stressing out about it waaaaaaaay too much[12]
