Into Raspberry Swirl was a Harry Potter femslash fanfiction archive. It was run by Nest Freemark and was online in the early to mid-2000s.
- "Welcome to 'Into Raspberry Swirl'! This is a femslash site for all of you who like Harry Potter! Femslash all about girls liking girls in that way. There's also some NC-17 fiction to be found. That means graphic sex. You have been warned."[2]
History
The archive seems to have been started by Nest Freemark sometime in 2002.[1] Its name comes from the Tori Amos song Raspberry Swirl. Nest Freemark originally requested permission to archive the femslash stories of several FanFiction.net authors.[3] She also accepted fic and art submissions over email or through the archive's Yahoo! group.[4]
The Into Raspberry Swirl Yahoo! group was founded on August 07, 2002 and is still accessible, though it is no longer active nor moderated. It had 69 members in December 2003,[5] and has 249 members as of June 2012 (though it seems that many of those are spambots),
The site was last updated on December 19, 2002.[1] The last working pages on the Wayback Machine were archived in October 2004.[6] By 2007, the site was unavailable.[7]
Content
Fanfiction
As of July 2004, the archive hosted about 100 stories by over 40 authors.[8]
The most popular pairing on the archive was Hermione/Ginny, with Cho/Ginny as a distant second. Hermione/Pansy, Lavender/Parvati, Lily/Narcissa, and Ginny/Pansy were also fairly popular, and many other rarepairs were represented.
Fanpoetry
The archive's fanpoetry page contained five poems as of the last archived version in July 2004.[9]
Fanart
The archive initially had a fanart page also open to submissions, though it seems to have disappeared when the site was redesigned. As of January 2003, it hosted twelve pieces of art by five different artists. Ratings ranged from G to NC-17.[10]
The Into Raspberry Swirl Yahoo! group also has folders for members to upload fanart, but only one work (Lily Evans by Mieko Belle) and several icons were ever uploaded.
Links
The site was affiliated with The Malfoy Slash Archive and Distinct Dottiness (a Luna femslash archive). It also linked to hp_girlslash, Femme Spark, and Madam Hooch's Broom Closet, as well as to several Harry Potter femslash Yahoo! Groups.
