Spam is a general Internet term for repetitive posts or messages. The name comes from the Monty Python SPAM song[1].

In fandom, it can refer to crossposting the same information to many groups. Fans often use it to apologize for frequent Livejournal or blog posts, which may often be of new-fandom squee. (could use a reference here) Posts with a large number of photos or screencaps are sometimes called picspam.

Spam can also refer to defacement of common spaces, a sort of electronic graffiti[2], or "advertising which invades user space, masquerading as desirable content or contacts" [3]
