Gamzee Makara is an important secondary character from the webcomic Homestuck, and one fans have had rather mixed (and passionately-held) opinions over.
Canon
Gamzee, as a purpleblood, is quite high on the troll Hemospectrum, though he seems to be largely oblivious to what this ought to mean and has stated he has trouble remember which caste is which. Upon introduction, Gamzee is friendly, ditzy, and near-constantly stoned on sopor slime, as well as a member of a 'rather obscure cult' which resembles the troll equivalent of juggalos. Later on, Gamzee's belief in this cult would be shattered by Dave Strider which, coupled with withdrawal symptoms from the lack of sopor, brought out a homicidal streak in the formerly placid troll, referred to by fans as 'sober Gamzee', killing Equius Zahhak and Nepeta Leijon before Karkat intervened, forming an uneasy moirallegiance with him. It was later revealed that Gamzee has been assisting Homestuck villain Lord English, and later still that he had been under the mind-control of Aranea Serket, leaving his true motives and the level of autonomy he had over his actions previous in the comic somewhat ambiguous.
