Fandomnews was a multifandom meta newsletter founded by Laura Hale.
It was present on Livejournal, Dreamwidth and Insanejournal, and was also associated with Laura Hale's Fan History Wiki and has its "staging area" there.[1]
Posts were added by a moderator a few times per week or as often as twice a day. Each post consisted of links to content elsewhere on the internet—either on journaling sites or on blogs or news websites—related to fandom meta, news, and miscellaneous topics of interest to fans. Unlike Metafandom, fandomnews posts typically included several sports-related links.
Three months after its creation, it had 72 followers on LiveJournal, 14 on Insanejournal, and 52 on Dreamwidth. [2]
Many fans appreciated that this newsletter had a wider scope than Metafandom, especially that it covered fandom-specific meta as well,[3] while others thought the linking is biased and that it had many of the same problems as the Fan History Wiki.[4]
As of July 26, 2010, fandomnews was on hiatus.[5]
