Everything's Jake is a 186-page slash Sentinel kidfic novel by Alyjude. When submitted online, it was divided into several chapters and published as a series both on alyjude's website and Livejournal and on 852 Prospect.

Summary from a distributor: "New detective Blair Sandburg has moved out of Jim's home, ever mindful of the whispers and talk, and found an apartment of his own. While he and Jim Ellison are still partners at work, it's a relief not to have to try to hide his love for the Sentinel -- a love Jim obviously did not return. When Blair helps a friend out by watching her grandson Jake, he finds Jim eagerly spending more and more time with him and the young boy. Could he have been wrong? Could Jake be the catalyst that makes Jim open his heart and admit he really does love his Guide? It seems paradise is just within reach -- then disaster strikes."

Aly is possibly the best Sentinel author out there, in my opinion. And this story is one of her best. I love it when stories bring out Blair's fatherly instincts, and the kid in this one is just adorable, and not in a squicky, annoying way. Watch out, it's really long, but it will leave you begging for more... and there is more! Two sequels so far, and another one in zine format.[1]

If you are familiar with Alyjude, you will SO not be disappointed with this beautiful story. I read it when Aly first published it to the 'net. I fell, and fell hard, for little Jake! And I don't even like kids! When I first read this I was sure it had risen to the top of my fave Aly stories, even surpassing Healing. Then I read Healing *again* and thought maybe they were tied for first. Then I bought Everything's Jake and once again it moved to #1. Sigh. Guess I'll just have to keep reading them over 'til I can decide. :-) While this is the story of Jake, it is also very much the story of Jim and Blair, their growing love for each other and for Jake, and their journey to becoming a family. A beautiful first time story as only Aly (well, and Candy Apple) can write. The beginning finds Blair no longer living in the loft with Jim; Blair having decided his continued presence in Jim's home is creating too much errant speculation from outsiders. While Blair seems to have found the perfect place to live, it just isn't home without Jim. Soon after leaving the loft, Blair befriends a young boy named Jake. Quite taken with each other, they spend as much time in each other's company as possible. Important family matters takes Karen, Jake's grandmother and caretaker, out of town and she asks Blair to care for Jake until her return. Meanwhile, Jim has finally decided to visit Blair's new digs and, well, he just sorta stays! This story is not without its share of angst, but one of the many things I enjoy about it is it just seems to reflect life. Sometimes bad things happen. Sometimes good things happen. And sometimes the worst things lead to the best things... As for the art... Geli did a lovely job on the cover illustration as well as the interior art: two full page drawings. See Jim in a coonskin cap![2]

An absolutely enthralling story about the inevitability of love and what it truly means to be a family. With beautiful descriptions, wonderful characterizations, and angst that had me reaching for my tissue box more than once during the reading of it, this story won an immediate place in my heart.[3]

These 'zines never fail to just make me feel good. I've often said I'm not a fan of kid-fic. But I *love* Jake. Love the universe. Love the gentle, consistent love between Jim and Blair. Through this series, I've learned to be more open to kid fic and have come to enjoy other stories I may have otherwise missed.[4]

This story moves me like so few fics out there do. You have seperation, desperation, and a need for family. Add a precocious child to the mix, who is lovable beyond anything, and you have this wonderful story. A true treasure.[5]
