Emily Brunson writes slash and gen fanfic in many fandoms. Some of the older fanfic was made available through the file archive of her mailing list EmLand, which went offline with the demise of Yahoo Groups in 2019.

Fan Comments

Over the years she has been known for a predilection to focus on the hurt end of the hurt/comfort spectrum. See, e.g., her The Sentinel story The Longest Walk, in which Jim Ellison loses the use of his legs. Or her Sports Night story Dancing on Glass, of which one fan wrote: "This is a beautifully-written, soul-destroying epic for which I have no words to describe how much it moved me."[1]

Another fan wrote: "Em Brunson's Dancing on Glass is the longest story in the entire Sports Night Archive. And it's still a WIP. But that doesn't matter, because it's tender and loving and sad and good. Read it, and you won't be sorry. But be aware that this story made me cry three times, so don't read it in public. And don't worry too much about the WIP status; it ends at a fairly well-resolved place." [2]

She's also the queen of character-whumping and of unfinished WiPs, but since all her work is undeniably well written and addictive, her readers deal with both with good grace.
