In the late 1970s and the 1980s, a popular topic of fanfiction was the creation of Star Wars fan-created universes.
Some of these featured original characters. Many of these original characters were sisters and other relatives of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.
Other characters, of which there were many, were girlfriend or prospective romantic partners. This second category walked a fine line in relation to the genre of Mary Sue.
It was usually Luke and Han who inspired fans to create family members and romantic partners. The character, Leia Organa, did not often generate similar universes.
