DMSG FAQ

DMSG FAQ

Because the list has grown, we felt it was time to structure ourselves a little more clearly. We hope that this will result in everyone getting the most out of what this wonderful group has to offer.

First, let me remind you that the DMSG is now closed. We cannot accept new members at this time. Upon a slowing of traffic or some unsubscriptions, we will open it again. If you would like to placed on the waiting list, e-mail robin_serrano@[...] and put DMSG Waiting List in the subject line.

We are the Duncan/Methos writers Support Group (duh!). We are here to discuss any and all aspects of the relationship between these two immortals. For most of us, that means in a slash relationship, but any topics involving the dynamic between these two is welcome.

Since this list does primarily discuss slash and other adult topics, we do have an age requirement. You must be at least 21 to join.

On the list, we limit our focus to this relationship specifically. Fiction posted directly on the list must include a D/M relationship of some sort. If you have a story that involves only one of them, you may announce that story and give the URL, but OT Story must be included in your subject line. If the story is available by e-mail text only, you may announce it with OT Story in your subject line, and in the body of your message *offer the story by request.* We have simply grown too large to include other relationships on list, and the vast majority of us are on other lists and have access to your fine work elsewhere.

We do not want to limit OT discussion completely though, because often it can lead to meaningful discussion of the D/M relationship. Please just include OT in your subject line. However, stories that do not include one of the guys are not going to lead to meaningful D/M discussion, thus the need for the story restriction. The whole point is to foster our writers' understanding and enjoyment of what it is to write D/M. Anything that contributes, or can potentially contribute to that end, is great. If it's not headed there, then it really doesn’t belong on this list.

As with most other lists, what is posted to the DMSG should not be forwarded elsewhere without the express consent of the poster. We have grown, yes, but we still have that small list 'feel' and it would be easy to feel comfortable discussing topics that you may not bring up in a larger crowd. We're all intelligent adults here, so we know what we should and shouldn't forward off list. Praise to co-authors who aren't on the list, etc, should be fine. But anyone who forwards list discussion that is obviously meant to stay on list, will be un-subbed. I don't see that happening though, we have a pretty damned considerate group. But as we have expanded, I felt it should be said.

We don't need a big lecture on flames, I'm sure. But again, since we have grown from the intimate group of ten or so we started from, we should state it for the record: flaming has no place on the list. Heated discussion is fine. Disagreement is fine. Being frank and honest and telling us how you feel is fine. However, making it personal and degrading someone on-list is *not* fine. Again, I don't really see it happening, but felt it should be stated for the record.

This list is at Onelist. For the time being it will remain there, though they have merged with E-Groups. If we hear that the posting will change to E-Groups, we will make that announcement. Everything you need to manage your subscription can be found at the Onelist website, www.onelist.com. Login using the e-mail addy with which you are subscribed to DMSG. You can set yourself to go no-mail and read your DMSG stuff straight from the web, you can set to get the posts by digest, as well. If you go on vacation, set yourself to No-Mail/Web Only and you will not have to be re-subbed once you are home again. If you have any trouble with Onelist, e-mail robin_serrano@[...] and I'll get it taken care of as quickly as possible.[2]

The Essential Reading List For all fans Of D/M Fiction

This list is by no means complete. Recommendations are welcome. Some of the hyperlinks are not working yet, I am still working on getting the Authors' permission to link to their stories. You should be able to find them on your own in the meantime.
