Dean/Luna is the het pairing of Dean Thomas and Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter fandom.

Canon

Dean and Luna have no on-page interaction until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where they are temporarily imprisoned together at Malfoy Manor along with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. After they are rescued to Shell Cottage, they live there with Bill and Fleur until the Battle of Hogwarts, and presumably become close.

During the Battle of Hogwarts, the two have a brief interaction, which led to fans seeing the potential in a relationship between them:

“Come on, Luna,” Dean called as he passed, holding out his free hand; she took it and followed him back up the stairs.[1]

This also inspired their FictionAlley SCUSA name.

Common Tropes in Fanworks

  • Post-war fics developing their relationship after the Battle of Hogwarts.
  • Fics focusing on their time at Shell Cottage together.
  • Fluff, often focused around Dean accepting Luna's various oddities.
  • Dean's skill at art is another common theme.
