Clean Slate Press was a fanzine publisher that published fanzines throughout the 1990s.
It had relationships with Graham Press and Pandora Press.

GALACTICA lives!
Welcome back to its resurrection.
And welcome to Clean Slate Press, the new kids in town.
We'll be publishing GALACTICA until the tenth anniversary celebrations are over, and for as long after that as you want to see it. We'll also be publishing two other zines, assuming the interest is there -- WHAT YOU FANCY, a general media zine, and CHROMOSPHERE, for original and literature-derived fiction. Several novels/novellas are also "on the slate" for the next year, including PYRAMID DUST and THE RARE EARTH EXPEDITION, BG stories, and THE TYLER EXPEDITION, a "V" tale. We have other plans up our sleeves, of course, including The PEGASUS Chronicles and Colonial History story collections, but we'll save those for another time.
Starting zines isn't easy. It takes time and dedication. it takes friends willing to commit their time and effort. It takes writing and art from people willing to trust their "children" in your hands. It takes a little publicity -- people don't recognize your name and face at first. And it takes a lot of complete strangers willing to buy your zines, read them, like them, and come back for more.
We can take care of most of those variables. We're willing to do the work, and Pandora was willing to risk their known, proven zine in our hands. But for writers, artists, and readers, we look to you. So, read our zines. Tell us what you think, what you want to see more of, what you want to see less of. Write the stories only you can tell. Show us the scenes and people as only you can capture them. We promise you our honesty and fair treatment.
Pandora Publications has big shoes, and no doubt it will take some time to prove that Clean Slate Press is capable of filling them. But we're certainly going to give it a try. So, past, present, and future friends, come along and enjoy the trip.
Closure and Archival
When they closed in 2002, one fan persuaded the editor to archive some of their fanzines online:
It was 1996, and I was reading one of the many mediocre Maximum Press Galactica comics. In the letters page, I saw the letter of a fan who mentioned fan fiction created by a small zine called Clean Slate Press owned by Sharon Monroe. I was immediately intrigued and ordered two books, The Race For Earth and Alternate Conspiracy. I'll never forget the day I sat down to read them.
I was floored. These stories were absolutely incredible, and I quickly ordered more. I have since bought most of the Galactica books created by Clean Slate Press, and I've enjoyed them so much that I plugged them hard on my website (Hopefully, I sent some business Sharon's way!) Just recently, I learned that Clean Slate Press has ceased publication.
With the closing of Clean Slate Press, it feels as though the zine era is pretty much over. But rather than allow such phenomenal stories to fade away, I've gotten Sharon's permission to post a number of them here on my site. I feel like I owe a debt to Clean Slate Press because it helped reignite my love for a 20-year-old show without which this website would never have become a reality. [1]
