Category talk:Fan Documentaries

Do we need this category? There are only two pages here, and one of them is semi-professional/academic.--æþel (talk) 18:03, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm in favor of keeping the category and adding everything to it that is not a fictions fan film. e.g. documentaries, no matter if pro- or fan made as well as meta/analytical style one so these can be separated from actual fiction movies and series made by fans. -- WhatAreFrogs? While I'm broadly in favour of having a separate category for non-fiction fannish films, a couple of questions:

• Would "Fan Documentaries" include only fan-made documentaries, or also documentaries about fans from a non-fannish perspective (e.g. X-Philes (Documentary))?

*How would this interact with the Meta Vids category? Ignore this, I didn't realise that a metavid is actually a type of songvid. However, Auntags was also talking about creating a new category for Meta on Video on the FanloreProject:YouTube Fandom Talk page which may have some overlap here?

Another thing to consider is the fact that a lot of the pages in the fan films category are in there because they have the fan film infobox and so are automatically pulled into that category. We can't remove it unless we change the infobox; should we have a separate infobox for fan documentaries? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 20:32, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
