Ariana Dumbledore is a Harry Potter character, introduced in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the long-dead younger sister of Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore.
Ariana had been kept hidden by her family and was rumoured to be a Squib. However, she actually had been attacked by Muggle boys when she was six years old, and the trauma caused her to be unable to control her magic. She died after being caught in a duel between Albus, Aberforth, and Gellert Grindelwald when they were teenagers.
Ariana is a common side character in fanworks set in the Dumbledores' youth, especially Albus/Gellert works. She is sometimes known by the fanon nickname "Ari". Since the release of the Fantastic Beasts film series, Ariana is commonly discussed in the context of Obscurials.
Ariana is described in canon as blonde and looking like she has "a kind of a vacant sweetness". Some fans (such as the anti-whitewashing blog Finite-whitewashing) interpret her as potentially biracial due to the appearance of Kendra, her mother, reminding Harry of a Native American.
