Zira is the antagonist of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, an outlander lioness, and a fanatic of Scar, the late King of the Pridelands. She is obsessed with reclaiming back those lands and killing Simba and Kiara in retaliation for Scar's death. She re-appeared in The Lion Guard with a slightly simplified design.
She has three children whose fathers are unknown; Nuka is implied to be Scar's son and Kovu is explicitly stated not to be, though he may have been in earlier stages of the film's development before it was realized this would make the movie's romance incestuous.
Originally, she was meant to commit suicide in the film's end, but this was edited for the final release; fans have attempted to recreate this ending. Zira is occasionally said to be one of Disney's best and most brutal villains, and her song, My Lullaby, is also fairly well-liked.
She used to be almost exclusively shipped with Scar in an angsty way, but in recent years, has sometimes been paired with lionesses like Nala. She has also occasionally been shipped with Simba or other characters, especially in crossover animashes.
In fanon, she is frequently depicted to be the killer of Kopa, his murder often being the reason for Simba's distrust of Zira and the other outlanders.
Canon
She is Scar's enforcer. She is a devious character in her own right who, while being infatuated with Scar's ideals, pushes for her son Kovu to fulfill his duty as Scar's heir so that he can be a puppet leader controlled by her. Her name translates to 'hate'.
Fandom
Fanonically his lover and apprentice, she is often written as a character who is twisted or seduced by Scar's evil ways, and who is utterly loyal to him, to the point she would sacrifice herself for him.
