Yancy Street Journal, originally the Comic Caper, was an early comics zine with a Marvel focus, published by teens Marty Arbunich and Bill DuBay, with DuBay doing most of the early art. The numbering of this zine begins at Issue 3, continuing on from Arbunich's previous comics zine, Comic Caper[1]. It was published intermittently over a period of two years, from 1964 to 1966 and finished after twelve issues.
While the focus was on Marvel Comics, there were also articles and art featuring Golden Age comics from Marvel's predecessor Timely Comics, DC Comics and newspaper comic strips. Art was occasionally contributed by pro artists such as Steve Ditko. Bill Dubay himself later became known for his work as a writer, artist and as editor for Warren Publishing's horror-comics magazines Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella.
Regular columns included "Yancy Street Walker" by Steve Kelez, "Lee's Ramblings" by Lee Whittlesey, "On the Corner of Yancy Street" by Tony Isabella, "Let the Marvellians Speak" (the letters column) and the "Timely Years Cover Gallery". It also ran a regular discussion forum, posting a topic in each issue and encouraging readers to provide their input in the next. Opinions were collected together as a single article.
