When the Moon Fell in Love with the Sun is a Katniss Everdeen/Peeta Mellark Hunger Games fic. The story is a fusion of the The Hunger Games and the Norwegian fairytale East of the Moon, West of the Sun. It is a highly recommended fic, and often considered a "must read" by fans of the Everlark paring. It was named one of the 50 most influential Everlark fanfics at panempropaganda.com.[1]

As of September 2019, it had 3550 reviews and 3961 favourites on FanFiction.net. It won Best Hunger Games fic and Best Canon Divergent fic at the Nightlock Recs Reader's Choice Awards.

Summary

"It's something out of an old tale: a golden young man in a white bearskin, striking strange bargains with desperate souls on the cruelest night of winter." Peeta Mellark, winner of the 74th Hunger Games, returns from his Victory Tour to make the starving Everdeens an offer they can't refuse. Canon divergent, based on the fairy tale "East of the Sun and West of the Moon."

Like. Her writing actually transcends explanation. But it simultaneously makes me cry and also have my heart explode with happiness[7]

It was so lovely, and sweet, and tender, and heartbreaking, and cozy, and romantic, and frustrating, and hopeful, and just bursting with LOVE. Her way with words is astounding. Every sentence is pure poetry! The way she writes Everlark is so endearing and sweet; the story is extremely captivating.[9]

her descriptive writing is beautiful. Combined with a depiction of Katniss that is different, but lovely, this piece is easily one of my favorites to read.[10]
