Vixen is a CW online web series that is based on the DC Comics character Vixen, a costumed superhero with the power to mimic the abilities of any animal that has ever lived on Earth. The series is set in the same fictional universe as Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow known as the Arrowverse. Two seasons have been released so far. Mari's ancestor, Amaya Jiwe stars in Legends of Tomorrow season 2.

Mari is voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke and portrayed by her when she appeared in the Arrow series. A number of characters (and voice actors) shows up in the series from the Arrowverse.

Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe's parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family's Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals—anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from the threats like those that claimed her family.

The Vixen web series fandom is very small, although only a bit more popular than the other Arrowverse web series spinoff Freedom Fighters: The Ray. It has a small but supportive presence on Tumblr.

Fanfiction is fairly rare, as of December 18, 2016 there are only 10 entries at AO3 and mostly as crossovers with the rest of the Arrowverse. By November 2019, there are 24 works listed at AO3. Most of the fanworks focus on Mari, although Laurel Lance is a close second. Shipping for the fandom is not very prominent, however a few pairings have stuck out, namely Laurel/Mari.
