Van days refers to stories set in the early days of various bandom bands (such as Fall Out Boy, MCR or Panic! at the Disco), when the particular band was still touring in a van. Fics using this trope frequently feature long stretches of tour with stops in various American cities (similar to a roadtrip), cramped spaces, infrequent alone time, and forced togetherness. These fics are usually not AUs, as they use at least some aspect of the band's real history. Many are first time fics, in which some occurrence during the tour causes two characters to become sexually involved for the first time.
