Whee! I'm talking to myself.--zvi 05:42, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, but remember, someone is always watching...--Sherrold 06:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Zvi, it'd be lovely if you could share with us how you think the PPOV could be enhanced to allow for "an inclusive and multi-threaded history/rumination on fandom(s)" in a wiki endeavor, or what different policy you think it should be replaced with, if you have another idea. We're always looking to hear more feedback about that, and the beta phase is a great moment for it, still. --anatsuno 09:31, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't know what method would be best for contacting y'all. My concern with PPOV isn't necessarily the theory of including multiple viewpoints, but the example page appears to avoid excluding anyone by hyperqualifying statements and a steadfast refusal to commit to any idea as definitive. I envisioned PPOV less as a "the wiki refuses to make clear statements so no one can claim we are against them" and much more of a "Fans have a multitude of conflicting visions. Vison 1: X means Y so people should do Z. Vision 2: X means Q so people should A and C. Vision 3: X means Q-7, so people should just C, except on alternate Tuesdays, when they should BBQ."--zvi 13:23, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't understand why some paragraphs appear with a wider line height or line interval than others *puzzled* but that is irrelevant here - sorry. Thank you for answering me! What I take from your answer is that you think the example given for the PPOV sucks, perhaps, more than the policy itself (am I misconstruing what you were saying? I hope not). I will put that task right back on the table - the example might have been too hastily written, or might be too meek indeed. As for contacting us, you can use our email address! Or go through the Issues page, or... well, this has been working so far, too. :-)--anatsuno 15:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I think the spacing isssue has something to do with whether or not you have a space as the first character of a paragraph, but I do not know that for sure. And, yes, you totally understood me about my opinion on the policy v. the example. I understood the policy to be "we will present everyone's truths", but then the example webpage seemed to be, "We will make no statements." which strikes me as too far in the other direction.

I apologize for barging into your zone here, zvi, but I just...want to second that I imagined the PPOV implementation differently as well. (*waving to anatsuno here*) This is how I imagine a potential implementation: if I vehemently disagreed with someone, I would first try and work out a compromise or re-write via the talk page. If the disagreements cannot be resolved, I would add a new section to the page detailing the controversy and my POV, instead of re-writing the article to be less precise.

I was...a bit mystified by the PPOV example provided, not because I think it's necessarily such atrocious writing (guilty of that myself), but since I believe it does not address the issue of how to handle real disagreements within a single page. It's valuable to me to know the different positions, after all, so it'd be weird to gloss over them? And that I would try and be inclusive instead of making bold, unfounded claims seems a given to me, anyway. --Lian 23:18, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

On a different topic, there is a method for lowercasing initial letters of pages, although I'm not sure if it works on user pages. With your permission though, I'd like to try. --Betty 04:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Please! Please, please, please, please, and thank you.
Try putting this on your page, zvi. (I tried cutting and pasting it, but it doesn't work) Type in this all on one line and no spaces (and sorry for the kooky formating but it can't be helped):
  • {{
  • DISPLAYTITLE:
  • zviLikesTV
  • }}

thanks, that worked nicely!
