Hi, I saw your editing comment with the WIP vs Stub, and it's just that the WIP template is only intended for fanlore policy articles, that's why it say "admin article" in the text. All regular articles are as default assumed to be works in progress. The WIP template is not there to indicate that you are in progress of editing right now.--RatCreature 08:03, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Retcreature: Thanks for the explanation. The problem is that I was still editing, and hadn't wanted to do a hundred saves and was really thrown when I thought I'd lost all my work. Next time I'll leave a note at the top saying "editing in progress"! I'm a bit jeglagged and couldn't sleep - so it was 8am here when I did that save and I nearly cried when I thought it had all gone! Especially as I'm not a fan in this area, so was having to spend time doing research to put it together! I want ST reboot to be fairly complete, even if a bunch of stubs.

It's great that you are adding all the reboot stuff! Editing conflicts are hard to avoid, because many people sometimes browse the recently edited pages and then check pages to help spot typos, add minor links or formatting stuff (or sometimes look out for spam) so a recently edited article is more likely to be edited than one that has been left alone. But normally if you edit, want to save and there is an editing conflict, you get that editing conflict page with the current text on top, but your own text is still in the field below, so you can c&p from there into the current field to merge and then save. Though personally for long texts I tend to pre-compose in an editor because sometimes my browser freezes.--RatCreature 12:34, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for catching those incorrect artist credits. --Mrs. Potato Head 13:55, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Seconded. (I assumed that Mrs. Potato Head intended to leave the comment here, but accidentally created your user page, so I deleted the page and moved the comment here. You can recreate the page any time.)--æthel 15:24, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
Color me dorky... :-) That's precisely what I meant to do. Thank you, æthel, for redirecting it. And another welcome to amandawarrington; I'm glad you're here at Fanlore. --Mrs. Potato Head 17:05, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
I can't take the credit! I currently have Caren Parnes visiting with me and she was the one who picked those errors up. She's putting together a panel about the history of art in K/S fandom for a UK K/S con that she's guesting at (next weekend), and has found the Fanlore Wiki and invaluable resource for information.
Invaluable is super. :-) And say, here's a hint: sign your posts with the second to the last box here at the top right under the heading. It's the one that adds your name and datestamp. (Adding four ~ does the same thing, but this is faster) --Mrs. Potato Head 19:47, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up re the timestamp. --amandawarrington 00:26, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

*grin* You've got it. And again, welcome aboard. The info you've been adding has been great. --Mrs. Potato Head 00:40, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! There was a bit of a dearth of STXI which I wanted to correct. The trouble is K/S really is my OTP. Apart from a short sojourn into Pros in the mid 90s, I've been pretty constant, so I can't add material on anything else. There's more I want to add as time permits. I appreciate the support I'm getting from you guys in terms of corrections and improvements to my posts. I always check what's been done and it helps me learn as I go.  :-) --amandawarrington 00:47, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Fiction Question

Amanda Warrington: I made a page for the K/S story The Rematch this morning. The T'hy'la page on Fanlore says it has a prequel called "A Brief Encounter." Is that your story, A Brief Encounter? If so, I'll make note of it on both pages. If not, do you know who wrote the other "The Brief Encounter" and where it was published? --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 17:46, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes, it's a sequel to my story. amandawarrington (talk) 17:55, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
"A sequel, written with permission, by Karin Porter."? "An unofficial sequel by Karin Porter."? Or just simply, "A sequel."? What do you prefer? --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 18:05, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm 99% certain Kathy contacted me to get permission (it was a long time ago!), so I'd go with the first. :-) amandawarrington (talk) 18:08, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
I'll add that, then. Thanks! --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 23:05, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Kiscon

Amanda, have you been able to figure out the Kiscon editing problem you were having? --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 15:15, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Huh! Your note prompted me to try it again and I was able to add the content with no problems. :-) On a completely different subject, I left a message on frogspace's talk page asking if the category for canon era could be opened up to be general (I was editing The Eagle page at the time and it's pertinent to that fandom too), rather than just be Merlin specific, but haven't heard back. Do you have a way to contact other editors? amandawarrington (talk) 15:35, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi Amanda! I'm glad your editing problem solved itself.
When you're logged in and go to a user's user page, under "Toolbox" on the left side you'll find an option "E-mail this user." In this case you could also start a discussion on the Canon Era talk page directly to get input from more people. If nobody answers you could send a message to the gardeners as detailed on Fanlore:Contact, they are very helpful. I happened to see your message in the chat transcript, but that's generally not a good way to get in contact.
And yes, Canon Era could certainly be expanded to cover other fandoms in which the term is used. --Tiyire (talk) 16:38, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks very much for your help and advice, Tiyire. I'll start the discussion on the canon era page, as you suggest. I'm currently creating tables on the K/S Advent page to neaten it up and add content for more recent calendars. Youtube has been invaluable in teaching me all the markup language - I find that easier than reading tutorials. :-) When you get a chance, could you or someone check over a page I created for Passion & Profession. I hope I did it right - I used the page from another story in the fandom as a template. amandawarrington (talk) 17:20, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

K/S stories

I've been working on some pre-emptive disambiguation work with K/S stories in hope it makes things easier for all of us later. Let me know if you have any questions or requests, Amanda. --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 18:07, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I've done a few bits and pieces here and there today - kept seeing things that needed updating. I probably should do a to-do list with a running order, and stick to it! Going through KSP #158 there were a load of reviews for all sorts of stories - there was another full zine review for Way of the Warrior, as notes on individual stories. Rather than create pages for each story, I just dumped the comments on the main page which can be changed later. amandawarrington (talk) 21:10, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
