Tsundere is a Japanese term used to describe characters who alternate between aloof or irritable (tsuntsun) and sweet or gentle (deredere). The nature of tsuntsun and the speed at which the moods alternate vary between characters. The tsundere archetype is particularly popular in anime and manga fandoms. Tsunderes are usually female, although male examples exist.
"It's not like I like you or anything!" is a common sentiment expressed by tsunderes.
