To kill the King is a Merlin/Arthur vid by Nuarity (3:26 min).

Summary: For 20 years the Great Dragon, incarcerated in the vaults of Camelot, tried to murder King Uther Pendragon. But all his brilliant plans failed. However, the Great Dragon has one last trump up his sleeve - the Slash Plan!

In this vid the Great Dragon is the villain and the Slash Dragon at the same time. He tries to kill Uther by making Merlin and Arthur fall in love, which comes as a deadly shock to the king.

The vid begins with title cards that tell what happened before and then uses footage from a scene where the dragon gifts Merlin with a spell, only in this context the gift is opening Merlin's eyes to the slashy subtext between him and Arthur ("Few man have ever been gifted with such knowledge. Use it wisely."). Of course Merlin uses his new-found knowledge immediately to seduce Arthur (the music part of the vid). The ending is once again a clever editing of source footage that makes it appear that Arthur confesses his love for Merlin to his father and tells him that they want to marry. Uther doesn't take it well and the dragon can finally escape his chains. (Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? *g*)

Recs and Reviews

  • "I think I nearly burst a lung laughing with this one. The cutting of the dialog and clips is really very cunning. The best vids are ones that tell a story and this certainly does that!"[1]
