Talk:Wizard of Oz

Herewith an attempt at a Wizard-of-Oz-fandom page. I have tried to err on the side of inclusiveness; there's a good deal of discussion of the source material because there's so darned much source material! OTOH, I have also tried to at least cover the outlines of the fan community and fanworks.

I'd welcome a dialogue on how to look at print-Oz; as the page makes clear, it seems to me that most of the Ozfic in print from the specialty presses is for all practical purposes fanfic -- but I suspect there's room for discussion on that point. Also, I suspect that this page ought to hook to Wicked fandom more directly than it does... --djonn 09:05, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Name Change

Thinking about changing the page name to The Wizard of Oz just cause it seems to be the generally accepted name for it. I'll wait for any objections and then change it in a few days (if I remember XD) -- OfMonstersAndWerewolves (talk) 17:08, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Mm. Call me pedantic, but I'd vote to leave the page name as is for one simple reason: "The Wizard of Oz" is a title specifically applied to the first Baum Oz book, whereas the fandom encompasses the entire canon of Ozian works (Baum's fourteen Oz novels plus the posthumous sequels making up the long-standing "Famous Forty", more recently reconsidered and expanded to encompass "The Sovereign Sixty" and/or "The Supreme Seventy-Five" per the Royal Timeline of Oz). --djonn (talk) 04:47, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
