Talk:Social Justice and Fandom
Social justice is huge issue in LJ/DW fandom right now. I'm sure there's a lot that can be added to this page. PPOV is definitely needed. Most of the initial points are based off of conversations on fail_fandomanon, which is not a big fan of the SJ movement. --Anenko 18:57, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
"Social Justice Warrior" (SJW) should be glossary term linked to this page? Or should it redirect here? --Mrs. Potato Head 19:05, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'd say redirect for the time being, as this page is currently so short and fragmented. --MegR 19:43, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you anenko for helping turn some of the fragments into concepts. It was sometimes hard to figure out what they were saying. --MeeDee 19:54, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
detemplating?
Do we think the page is PPOVed enough to remove that template (and/or the stub one), or not yet? --Sk 05:34, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- I suspect the PPOV will remain until the end of time, considering how there really is little agreement on the topic and any gaps might be perceived as deliberate omissions. :-) But I do think we can remove the Stub notice. --MeeDee 16:57, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Occupy Wall Street
This may not be the proper place for this question, but I'm trying to get any information I can. I have now read one blogger and -- gakkk -- one Encyclopedia Dramatica entry saying that SJWs killed Occupy Wall Street, by derailing its primary objectives. Is this just a rumor or does it have some basis in fact? --KTJ (talk) 11:55, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Rename Page?
I propose to rename this page Fandom and Social Justice. --MPH (talk) 12:53, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
- Like the idea of splitting the page into SJW (glossary) and Fandom and SJ.--MeeDee (talk) 14:39, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
- still a good idea!--aethel (talk) 01:45, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
- I also still think Fandom and Social Justice should be a separate page than Social Justice Warrior. But, I have no idea how to tease those page out from each other. --MPH (talk) 02:09, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

PPOV
Posted the same thing on the SJW page, but it's relevant here too: Why are there so many references to failfandomanon in here? If I understand correctly, PPOV means there should be a more diverse array of sources. I tried to fix that a bit, but honestly I don't have the time to research other uses of SJW and the like. (And now the sections I wrote got moved, so this page once again is far too one-sided.) Could somebody PLEASE give some more positive aspects of SJWs? I can try over time, but there has to be someone more informed than I am who can help here. I know not all fandom and SJW interactions are negative. kowaiyoukai (talk) 16:12, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- The page got split into two - one to define the term and the other (this one) to talk about it has been used in fandom. As a result some of the more positive comments that were general in nature did not make it over here. I'll do more digging around to see if we can find fandom specific examples of how SJ has been a positive force in fandom - typically people don't blog about a topic unless they're complaining. ;-) Right now the FFA citations are around 45% of the examples. Can you think of a fandom where SJ activism has been seen by the community as a helpful force? That would give me a direction to dig.MeeDee (talk) 16:25, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
