Talk:Panic! at the Disco
I'm scared to add a "Notable authors and fic" section to the main page since I'll no doubt miss out someone important, but Sunsetmog and LittleMousling and their friends lists are a good place to start, as well as Roga's recs list. Cesy 16:07, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, I have no idea which section to put it in, but I think it might be worth mentioning something about how often their real pets are mentioned in fic - it seems to be a lot more common in bandom than other fandoms I've been in, possibly because so many of them talk about how awesome their dogs are in interviews and Twitter. - The pet thing sounds like it could go in the Trope section. I added a "Fanwork Examples" header; we've had discussions before about how intimidating a section titled "Notable" Anything is to editors, so we've actually shifted to calling these sections things like "fanfiction examples", "fanworks sampler", etc. I hope this helps!--æþel 02:39, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

History section problem
It looks like the history section is currently configured as a history of the band, but the purpose of Fanlore is to document fandom, not general pop culture information. See Fanlore:What Fanlore is not. There are a lot of quotes and other details that don't look relevant to fandom, especially extended quotes about their opinions on music and music critics' opinions on what genre of music the band played. There are some interesting paragraphs emphasizing how fans mythologize the band's history or incorporate a fanon version of it into fanfiction. I think these parts could be consolidated into a Band History Fanon section. We will still need a Fandom History section that incorporates certain events in the band's history--how fans started writing divorce fic after the split, etc. But all the stuff about the cover band and Trevor happened before there was a fandom, so it couldn't have had an effect on the fandom's development. The current split by album, although fan reactions are mentioned, is very canon-centric and mirrors Wikipedia organization and titling. The "Solo project" section has no fandom content at all (also it's not about a solo project?).
See Bandom_(Decaydance+,_My_Chemical_Romance)#Fandom_History for a different approach to developing a history section.--aethel (talk) 00:25, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- I assembled as much fandom history from livejournal as I could find, moved the fandom-relevant parts of the band history section over, and left an "early band history fanon" section. I removed a lot of album, music, and touring details that didn't seem relevant, but they could be added back if more fandom context is provided. Whether the band's musical style shifts had an impact on fanworks or the demographics of fandom was something I wondered, but couldn't speak to. Here's an earlier version of the page. The page still needs more recent fandom history.--aethel (talk) 20:24, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
