Talk:Open Letter
What template should the individual open letters have? Right now, almost all of them have "commentary." One article's template was switched from "commentary" to "fanwork." Should they all be moved to "fanwork"? --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 12:55, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- If it's by a professional, it shouldn't be a fanwork. I can create Template:OpenLetter or we can use Template:MetaEssay for the ones written by fans for a fannish audience and Template:Commentary for the ones written by professionals.--æþel (talk) 23:56, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- An Open Letter template would be good, I think. That would cover the ones by fans (vast majority) but also the handful by professionals written to fans (I can think of three of them on Fanlore). --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 00:42, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
Now that we have a category for Open Letters, I suggest paring down the list of examples considerably. It would help to select according to diversity of fandom and reasons for writing--include a blurb like "written by show writer about a fan base he disagrees with", etc.--æþel (talk) 23:11, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Good idea. I was thinking about that yesterday. --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 23:14, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
