Talk:Movie Trailer
This page seems mostly nonfannish at present. We do have pages for Fake Trailer, Fic Trailer, and the disambiguation page Trailer. Are there other fanworks that incorporate trailers? Could we use the page to talk about how fans react to trailers or make use of trailers? Fandoms that rise and fall based purely on the trailer? Arisia used to have a video showing that was just old movie trailers.--aethel (talk) 02:04, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- I know that trailers are a big deal in movie franchise fandoms like MCU. There's a small tag on ao3 and I'm sure there's a lot more that aren't tagged. Is the practice of analyzing trailers for hints and easter eggs the kind of thing we'd cover here? – caes (talk) 02:30, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- Also, I question the title of this page, since TV shows have trailers as well. – caes (talk) 02:38, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- I've certainly seen a fair amount of fan discourse about a movie well in advance of its release solely based on the trailer, which could be documented here - for example, fan reactions on Tumblr to then-perceived queer erasure in Bohemian Rhapsody when the first trailer came out. I remember a bunch of Tumblr posts about that, and I feel like I've seen similar discourse/meta based on trailers before. Definitely mostly in the context of movie franchises, though. - Fandomgeographies (talk) 02:43, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
