Movie Trailers are advertisements created to promote upcoming movies, usually consisting of scenes edited together to create excitement. They were first introduced in 1913, and have been part of filmmaking ever since.[1]

Fandom

"Fake trailers" are a popular type of fan-made vid. Fake trailers are made of both fandoms with video source material and properties that do not have screen adaptations.

Fic Trailers are fan-made trailers for fanfiction.

In a fandom that already has a following, usually a franchise, trailers can be highly anticipated by fans, and their limited content can serve as inspiration during the wait for the full release. [citation needed]

Sometimes, the fandom's interpretations of a film can impact the marketing of it, including film trailers. For instance, Sony Pictures Entertainment released a trailer for the Blu-ray release of Venom (2018) which portrayed the film as though it was a romcom,[2] reflecting the popularity of Symbrock and the domestic headcanons created after the film's release.
